Question Askers-Screening: A lot of people have accused you of being narcissistic.
Sandy Bates: No, I know. People think that I'm egotistical and narcissistic, but it's not true. I-I uh I... As a matter of fact, if I did identify with a Greek mythological character, it would not be Narcissus.
Question Askers-Screening: Who would it be?
Sandy Bates: Zeus.

... rename Washington's leading performing arts center as the Trump-Kennedy Center ...

I'm surprised it took this long before he changed the name ...

#3 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-12-18 01:58 PM

Why put his name on this facility? It doesn't even have a massive data center being built underneath!

Let's ask BELLRINGER id Trump is crazy?

@#4 ... Why put his name on this facility? ...

My guess is that he likes putting his name on things.

WH press flak Karoline Leavitt, enthused on X : "Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future!" (newrepublic.com)

President John F. Kennedy was murdered in 1963.
For the past 62-years he has been what he will forever be: stone cold dead.
Would someone in MAGAtLand please inform Ms. Leavitt?

If Pres Trump wants to latch on to a Kennedy, maybe it would be more appropriate to latch on to RF Kennedy, Jr.

The Space Center is next.

At least it's only 5 letters to remove as soon as he's gone.

They should call it the Trumpstein Rapeatorium.

#14 | Posted by reinheitsgebot at 2025-12-18 03:16 PM

How can he possibly be allowed to just name everything after himself. This is just stupid.

#15 | Posted by TFDNihilist at 2025-12-18 05:23 PM

How can he possibly be allowed to just name everything after himself.

Technically, he didn't name it after himself. He just hand picked a board of directors and told them to do it.

It's pretty banana republic stuff.

Why House Democrats haven't united to impeach Dummkopf Trumpf in 2025 is beyond me. A few attempts starting in June were all quashed with the help of fellow Democrats.

"Oh, this snake won't ever bite me, so let it alone."

"That wildfire won't ever reach my house."

"Trumpf's only asking for an inch, so let him have it."

"They'll never come for me."

Well when you sponsor shows like "Dragtastic Dress-up" marketed to under-18yo the reaction is going to go extremely the other direction.

Not surprisingly, Lumpers and Canadians alike have no idea how extremism is created on both sides of the aisle.

Anybody who looks at drag queens and immediately thinks of sex with children, didn't need the drag queens to get there.

All while ignoring the obvious fact that we've become a banana republic.

#21 | Posted by jpw at 2025-12-18 06:00 PM

extremism is created on both sides of the aisle

LOL

American left extremism = lets have universal healthcare.
American right extremism = let's deport naturalized citizens, and use ICE as the gestapo.

BOTH SIDES! *drink*

The name "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" was enacted by Public Law 88-260 by https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/remarks-upon-signing-bill-concerning-the-john-f-kennedy- center-for-the-performing-arts by President Johnson.

Changing the name required an act of Congress. The Board has no power to change the name.

#26 | Posted by et_al at 2025-12-18 10:17 PM

@#16 ... Changing the name required an act of Congress ...

Is that similar to trying to change the name of the Dept of Defense to the Dept of War?

Don't know. However, the change to Kennedy was a specific amendment of the Act establishing the "National Cultural Center" signed by President Eisenhower.

@#18 ... Sorry, -- the formatting. ...

Been there.     :)

@#19

I've heard reports that Congress needs to act to change that name. Beyond those reports, I do not know.

#30 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-12-18 10:35 PM

@#20 ... that name ...

"that name" means Department of Defense.

I should have been more specific.

oops.

#31 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-12-18 10:37 PM

And the Board members were, of course, Trump appointees.

All he needs to do now is figure out how to appoint the Nobel Prize voters.

Jeff's a ------- cowardly imbecile

#33 | Posted by LegallyYourDead at 2025-12-18 10:59 PM

Congress does need to approve this.

In the Senate, he'll need 60% of the votes to accomplish this which will never even come close.

Consider it temporary - like the rest of his adminstration. Dude is a lame duck, cooked.
